Product Description
Raw Umber Green Shade is a dull, greenish-brown, great for bringing a natural, live-wood aspect to landscapes and botanical paintings.
Artist Notes: As its name suggests, Raw Umber Green Shade has a green undertone which is very useful in landscapes and botanical studies. An excellent mixing colour, Raw Umber Green Shade can be used to create shadows or it can be used dilutely in light washes to add a vintage air to paintings.
Paint Maker’s Notes: Darker than ocher and sienna pigments, umbers are natural brown earth pigments containing iron oxide. Raw Umber pigments range in colour, which is dependent on the amount of iron oxide and manganese in the clay from which it is mined. Historically, the best raw umber pigments are associated with a green undertone.
