Product Description
A lightfast alternative to fugitive Alizarin Crimsons, Perylene Maroon is a dull reddish-brown colour that is useful in landscape, portrait, wildlife, botanical and floral paintings. Its transparency and semi-granular nature allows for interesting effects when built up in layers.
Artist’s Notes: This dull maroon acts more like an earth colour than other modern colours when used in mixing, and is very useful to add shadows to bright reds. Watercolour techniques such as glazing and washes are particularly suited to this beautiful colour.
Paint Maker’s Notes: First used as an artist pigment in the 1950s, perylene pigments are available in a range of hues including red, black, and green.
