Product Description
A versatile mixing colour, Naphthol Red is useful in a variety of watercolour applications. A brilliant, intense cherry red, Naphthol Red is slightly darker than either Pyrrole Red or Carmine and is a much brighter red than Scarlet.
Artist Notes: Mix Naphthol Red and Ultramarine Blue for interesting violets, or combine with Titanium White for cool pink tints.
Paint Maker’s Notes: Naphthol Red was first used as an artist pigment during the 1920s. The name comes from the Greek word for mineral oil, a nod to the pigment’s petroleum-based origins.
