Artist Notes: Tyrian Cobalt Purple is a muted, dark cool grey-violet useful in rendering stormy skies and moody atmospheric scenes with clouds and rain. It is also helpful in evening scenes and seascapes.

Paint Makers Notes: Tyrian Cobalt Purple is similar in hue to the historic Tyrian Purple pigment used in antiquity. This pigment was made from sea snails and was prohibitively expensive during ancient times.
