Product Description
Millford is a unique English watercolour paper made by St Cuthberts Mill. It is deliberately created with a high degree of water resistance (called hard sizing). Within its recipe there are no animal products.
A professional quality watercolour paper, traditionally made on a cylinder mould machine using 100% cotton. The cotton fibres inside the sheet are more randomly placed, allowing the paper to remain flatter once water is applied giving resistance to buckling and curling. Its attractive surface is created using natural woollen felts that give it a distinctive random texture. Millford is made to high archival standards and both sizes of the sheet can be used.
Millford paints differently to other watercolour papers as it is engineered to keep the water on the surface of the sheet. This feature allows the paper to remain in a glassy wet state for longer, with a brilliant sheen of water, before slowly drying.
A beautiful paper to paint. It is excellent for colour lifting techniques, useful in bringing the white shade of the surface to the forefront of the painting. Millford produces lovely smooth flat washes. An excellent sheet for the paints to retain vividness of colour, and perfect for painting multiple glazes.
