Lemon Ocher is a transparent yellow with low tinting strength, medium grained that makes lemon half tints. Our lemon (ICLES) ocher is from quarries in northern Italy. Iron oxide hydroxide is the principle coloring agent in yellow ochers. This color is based on the natural mineral goethite associated with varying proportions of other minerals, such as clay, chalk and quartz. They differ from red ochers in that they contain water. In other words, the iron to which they owe their color is Iron oxide hydroxide. Our natural lemon ocher is transparent, absolutely permanent and has fair covering power.
