Product Description

Exclusive to Wet Paint in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Michael Harding Oils are made by hand, using techniques dating back to the Old Masters. Experience stronger, richer color that's full of pigment but free of fillers and driers. This paint is a pleasure to work with; the texture and handling characteristics are incomparable. As an artist and a painter, Michael strives to create colors that are true, vibrant and pure. The greater the pigment load, the greater the resistance to fading. Michael Harding colors are made without fillers or extenders. All colors, except as indicated, are ground in a grade of refined cold pressed linseed oil chosen for its neutral acidity. Try the color that David Hockney says is 'The first quality oil paint. Excellent.'

From Michael Harding website:

Inorganic – A rich, potent colour favoured by the Old Master’s, my Genuine Chinese Vermilion is made from the real Mercuric Sulphide. This is not a “hue” as you will find in other manufacturer’s ranges. The body and texture of my Genuine Chinese Vermilion is unparalleled in the industry. A paint coveted not only by the Old Master’s but by Modern Master’s as well. Made by native natural cinnabar which has been purified to a degree where it has robust resistance to general gallery conditions and is only subject to change when exposed to direct sunlight or the presence of chlorine compounds as with the case of historical true vermilions. Perhaps being caused by the accumulated dirt caused by human skin in the form of gallery dust. The sweat of course containing sodium chlorides or slats from human sweat! This is a red of peculiar quality its relation to many colours unparalleled particularly in portraiture that cannot be replaced by cadmiums.
