The Hahnemühle Watercolour Book made of 100% cotton fibres is a must-have for all watercolour artists. The fibre cotton gives the paper a natural white tone, an incomparable texture and high resistance. Colors flow superbly on the natural white paper, while brushes slide gently over the surface and inspire artist. The 30 sheets of 250 gsm paper have a homogeneous, fine-grained surface structure on the front and back, so artists have 60 pages available for creative design. Suitable for all watercolour techniques, especially the wet-on-wet technique. Masking pens and masking tapes can be removed without leaving any residue. Even the use of an eraser is possible thanks to surface sizing.
The pitch-black, sturdy cover with a black bookmark gives the book the elegance and stability that it needs as an indispensable companion. A rubber band closes the book tightly.

We needed this to exist!
Hahnemuhle is my favorite brand of watercolor paper, so I ordered a couple of these sketchbooks the moment I heard about them. They might have created this lovely paper specially for the book? It's a tad lighter than 140 lb with a gentle cold press texture, not as much texture as The Collection, so that it's better for sketching. It appears to have good internal sizing -- the paper doesn't warp as you paint. You just need a clip to keep it open. It also has a nice surface sizing, to allow you to play with water on the surface, so it does wet in wet well, and shows granulation. The paper is a bit thirsty, so you do need to pay attention to working speed or wet it quite thoroughly. But I suspect urban sketchers will appreciate a paper that dries relatively quickly! Tonight I went nuts and worked a long time with it wet, in several layers but the paper did not pill or break down even as I overworked the page, LOL. The book is very well made, with an elastic and a bookmark. There are 4-page signatures to help the book lie nicely flat so you can paint 2-page spreads. And the watercolor paper is glued inside the front and back covers, so you can paint those too. The only flaw I could find with these books is that one of mine had a slightly warped cover, but I'm pretty sure that was a manufacturing fluke since this is a brand new product. My other book was perfect. I also think these are very reasonably priced for their high quality. If you are wanting to check these out, go for it, they are a solid product!
