Product Description
Payne's Gray is a dark blue grey historically made from a mixture of Ultramarine, Lamp Black and sometimes Crimson. It was named after the 18th century water-colourist William Payne who created the mixture and often recommended it to his students as an alternative to plain black.
Professional Watercolour is still formulated according to our founding principles; to create unparalleled colours which offer artists the widest and most balanced choice of pigments, as it was in 1835 when William Winsor and Henry Newton introduced the first moist watercolours to the world.
