SpectraFix casein fixative is based on an antique French fixative recipe used over 100 years ago by Edgar Degas.
Improving on that superior formula, SpectraFix brings a non-toxic and non-dulling fixative for all your pastel, charcoal, pencil, watercolor and cross-over techniques. Perfect to stabilize underpainting or hold and protect fragile pastels, watercolors, or charcoals.
Casein is a powerfully strong milk protein which has been used since the cave artists and Egyptians as a pigment binder and glue. It is fully archival, crystal clear and non-yellowing.
Grain alcohol is distilled from grains naturally. While SpectraFix is not drinkable due to the presence of a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, its vapors are not harmful.
