Vote YES! Poster Contest
Deadline: September 26st 5pm
Calling All Artists! The Vote Yes! Minnesota campaign wants to raise awareness about the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment, which will be on the ballot next November. If passed, the Amendment will raise $300 million dollars a year for clean water projects, environmental conservation, parks, trails and the arts. As part of this effort, Vote Yes! is sponsoring a poster design contest, the winners of which will receive a Wet Paint gift certificate.

Both can be die cut & both are available in lots of colors.

KONNYAKU! with Mary Lee

Konnyaku is a Japanese starch with a special versatility. Used most often as a food source, it can be added to paper to increase strength & flexibility, resulting in paper that can be sewn & dyed like cloth. To explain & demonstrate the process, we’ve invited in Japanese paper expert Mary Lee. Mary teaches contemporary book structures at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and blogs on book arts and other subjects of interest at riverlark.blogspot.com.

Bob Herskovitz (Outreach Conservator for the State Historic Preservation Office of the MN Historical Society) will discuss techniques and materials for storing, displaying and repairing paper, such as vintage letters and documents. He will also discuss the preservation of vintage and modern photos, & explain what the terms acid-free & archival mean!
